June Journal: Postcard from Charleston
Welcome to our June Journal! We just returned home from four days in Charleston, and it's safe to say this trip is destined to become an annual tradition. While the weather wasn't exactly on our side, and traveling with a five-month-old certainly came with its own adventures, the city still managed to completely win us over with its stunning architecture, natural beauty, and undeniable charm.
With that in mind, we wanted to share a few highlights from our stay, including where we stayed, the restaurants we loved, and the shops we explored, in case you're planning a Charleston getaway of your own this summer!
We stayed at the Post House Inn in Mount Pleasant, just across the bridge from downtown Charleston. We loved this area for its laid-back, family-friendly feel and beautiful coastal charm. It also made the perfect home base for our trip, being just 15 minutes from Sullivan's Island and 15 minutes from downtown Charleston, giving us easy access to both beach days and city exploring.
When it came to dining, Charleston had no shortage of incredible options, making it nearly impossible to choose. On our first evening, we headed to Sullivan's Island and had dinner at Sullivan's Fish Camp, which felt like a thoughtfully designed local dive serving fresh, delicious seafood.
Saturday was spent wandering downtown Charleston's cobblestone streets and admiring the beautiful historic architecture. We started the day with coffee at Babas before strolling down the street to Wentworth, an immaculately curated home décor store. Following we walked along the water and picked up a baguette from the unassuming yet absolutely delicious Le Chambertin in the French Quarter, and ended the evening with dinner at Sorelle. Recommended to us by several people, Sorelle more than lived up to the hype and was easily our favorite meal of the trip. A quick tip: Be sure to make a reservation at Sorelle well in advance!
On Sunday, the rainy weather encouraged us to slow down a bit, so we enjoyed both brunch and dinner at the Post House Inn. Both meals were excellent and, with a baby in tow, the convenience couldn't be beat.
A number of places came highly recommended, and while we couldn't fit them into this trip, they're already on our list for next time. Here are a few worth noting...
