March Journal: The Design Process

Welcome to our March Journal! If you’ve ever considered working with an interior designer but hesitated because you were uncertain of where to begin or what the process looked like, this month’s journal is for you. Every interior designer runs their business and structures their services a little differently, so we’re giving you the low down on how we do things around here!

Focusing on our signature full-service interior design service, this is our most holistic and turnkey service available. We manage the design and construction process for you from concept to completion, ensuring your project is in good care. More than that, we offer efficient and organized steps, guiding and helping you make informed decisions. We provide space planning, finish and fixture selections, furniture procurement, and styling; keeping you informed along the way. The result is highly personalized, lived-in spaces that are as unique as they are timeless.

How It Works

01 / Onboarding - We start with a 20-minute free Discovery Call to get a sense of your project scope, timeline, and budget. Then, we meet at your home for an Initial Visit to discuss your priorities and lifestyle, and further assess your project to ensure we’re a great fit for one another. After the Initial Visit, we’ll share a customized design proposal with an actionable plan and cost estimate for our services. A Service Agreement will be signed before moving forward into the next phases.

02 / Design Phase - The design phase consists of two phases: concept and documentation. We begin with a meeting to further discuss your priorities and take all necessary measurements. Next, we present aesthetic direction, color palette, and floor plan options before moving on to materials and furniture selections. We present all materials and renderings of key areas to establish your cohesive design direction. Once defined, these design details are documented to ensure clarity and accuracy.

03 / Procurement - We purchase primarily from wholesale and trade-only vendors to ensure your project consists of high-quality pieces. We consciously source pieces that fit your lifestyle and cohesively work into our design. In addition, we offer antique and vintage sourcing for the client who want a one-of-a-kind home. Finally, we order all furniture, soft goods, decorative lighting, and accessories. Clients receive updates bi-weekly, so you are never left in the dark.

04 / Implementation - We manage the project for the client and work closely with the general contractor and all trades to ensure the design is clearly communicated and implemented properly. We provide detailed schedules correlating our selections (finishes, lighting, plumbing, hardware, etc.) to the drawings, so there are no questions left unanswered. Regular site visits will be scheduled as needed, keeping the client well-informed of both progress and setbacks.

05 / Install - We use a receiving warehouse to ensure all furniture is received, inspected, handled with care, and delivered upon our scheduled date (or dates). We then oversee and coordinate deliveries of furniture and accessories to your home for white glove installation. Depending on the size of your project, this may happen in a single day or over a few days. Finally, we install and style all decorative elements to complete your design, leaving you with a lived-in, effortlessly curated home.
